    Igigo Wu 吳淳汝

Igigo Wu b.1999, is a Zürich based, multi-disciplinary Taiwanese artist whose works include mainly paintings, drawings, photography, writing, and experimental film. With a background in film production, her research centers on defining identity, striving to reveal the brutal nature embedded within history, identity, and memory. Her creations explore the violent ecologies within postcolonial contexts, using painting as an organically developing ecosystem of consciousness to critique the violence of modern society. In her works, viewers enter an unspeakable realm that exposes forms of violence beyond the scope of language and cognition.

Her artistic inspiration is deeply influenced by Taiwan's geopolitical landscape, particularly her experiences in coastal windbreak forests and experimental woodlands, which symbolize not only nature but also carry the weight of history. Igigo views the body as both a battleground and a process, revealing collective trauma and personal memory through echoes of history. Her works seek to reshape silenced histories through visual language, exploring the boundaries of violence and the fluidity of memory.

Igigo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mixed Media from the Taipei National University of the Arts and obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from Zurich University of the Arts in 2023. She has participated in exhibitions and creative projects in Taiwan, Switzerland, Germany, and other countries, and will be part of the PALM Gallery exhibition "Rewriting Territories" at the end of 2024.
